Laudium Care Services for the Aged and the Amrut Foundation hosted a successful golf day at the Blue Valley Golf Course and County club the previous Sunday.
The event attracted 120 golfers in a full and competitive field that produced some remarkable golf and a close finish. The players were treated to a light breakfast, a halfway house burger. A scrumptious lunch was served after the game where the winners were announced, and other special prizes were awarded. The range of players drawn from across Gauteng represented the diversity of the field – the youngest was 18 and the oldest 85.
The event once again highlighted the wonderful generosity of the community. Both LCSA and the Amrut Foundation are involved in a number of initiatives; care and support for the aged and supporting graceful ageing; a sanitary pad project for indigent girl learners; bursaries and educational support for disadvantaged learners and generally providing a helping hand to those less fortunate. LCSA Chair, Aneesa Cassim, told the Laudium Sun, “We try as best as we can to make a difference in the lives of people and with the support of the community so much more is within our reach.

Both host organisations are run substantially by volunteers who give freely and abundantly of their time showcasing the spirit of voluntarism that makes all things possible. The LCSA hosts 120 senior citizens a week at its premises, providing seniors with a place to meet, advice on a wide-ranging number of issues, companionship and friendship and a warm meal. For many it is the highlight of what is often a lonely life. We owe it to our seniors who have given so much to make their time here a happy and joyful one – that is at the heart of the vision of the LCSA.”

Aneesa appealed to members of the community to visit the service centre of LCSA at 292 2nd Avenue Laudium, become a volunteer in its activities and to support its work in whatever manner possible.
Given the success of the event, LCSA plans to host it on an annual basis spurred on by the remarkable support this first Golf Day was able to garner. LCSA and Amrut Foundation conveyed their sincere gratitude to all those who supported the event and made its success possible.
