The Titans U19 Platinum Tournament produced an impressive performance from the Laudium HUB U19 boys, who secured a convincing victory over Hoerskool Overkruin from Sinoville Pretoria, in a 50 over cricket match, held at the Laudium Cricket Grounds this past Sat (Aug 22).
The Laudium HUB U19 boys were sent in to bat first and put together a strong total of 239 runs, before losing all 10 wickets. Their batting performance provided the team with a solid platform and gave the bowlers a sizeable total to defend when Hoerskool Overkruin began their innings. Among the standout performers with the bat was Zaakir Khan of Laudium HUB U19 boys, who played an important innings of 51 runs from 41 balls.

His contribution helped strengthen the team’s total and put pressure on the opposition from the outset. Khan’s innings were one of the key individual performances in Laudium HUB’s successful batting effort. Hoerskool Overkruin found the target difficult to chase and struggled during their innings. After making a start, the opposition lost momentum in the second half of their innings as Laudium HUB’s bowling attack continued to make breakthroughs. Overkruin was eventually bowled out for just 67 runs in the 28th over.
The Laudium HUB U19 bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings and ensured that the opposition could not build a meaningful partnership. Their disciplined bowling and regular wickets brought the match to an early conclusion, with Laudium HUB completing a comfortable victory. Areeb Qasim was one of the leading performers with the ball for Laudium HUB U19 boys. He delivered five overs, conceded 21 runs and claimed four wickets, playing a major role in restricting Hoerskool Overkruin to their low total. His figures highlighted the effectiveness of the Laudium HUB bowling attack and helped the team maintain control of the match.
With 239 runs on the board and a determined bowling display, Laudium HUB U19 boys controlled the contest from both innings. The team’s combination of strong batting, effective bowling and consistent pressure proved too much for Hoerskool Overkruin, who were unable to recover once wickets began to fall regularly. The victory will provide Laudium HUB U19 boys with valuable confidence as they continue their campaign in the Titans U19 Platinum Tournament. The players showed good determination and teamwork throughout the match, while individual contributions from Zaakir Khan and Areeb Qasim played an important part in the convincing result. The match at Laudium Cricket Ground provided an entertaining display of Under-19 cricket, with Laudium HUB finishing the day as clear winners after restricting Hoerskool Overkruin to 67 all out. Their performance will be an encouraging sign for the young side as the tournament continues.
